THE BAND
Sun Wave Mountain Cave is a four-piece alt-rock group hailing from the frozen lakes of Minneapolis. With excitement and good-natured Minnesotan humility SWMC proudly presents ‘Familiar To Me’. The 5-track EP showcases tight vocal harmonies, interwoven guitars, and collaborative storytelling centered on childhood, growth, and ego death in Middle America.
From the upbeat, dance-all-night sound of Hockey Night and Free Energy, to the introspective singer-songwriter stylings of Mason Jennings, SWMC is determined to take influence from their local roots and display the versatility of midwestern alternative music.
Whether it's the percussive catharsis of ‘Bones’ inspired by the music of The Replacements and Hüsker Dü, or the rich harmonies reminiscent of The Jayhawks on '25', SWMC is proud to be part of the vibrant tapestry that is the Minneapolis music scene.
St. Paul locals Linus Kangas (drums/vocals, The Drug Budget, Volsunga Saga), Dave Abbott (bass/vocals, The Karma Kicks) and Bryan Fate (guitar/keys/vocals) first started playing music together in a crowded bedroom after middle school over 15 years ago. After adding Andy Brace (guitar/vocals), a classical guitarist and Appleton WI native turned Minneapolitan, Sun Wave Mountain Cave was formed.
